So I have an old school 7500 auto. By the time it came to me, it was well used and scratched up pretty bad. I love the knife but hate that it doesn't have a pocket clip. Is it worth it to add a clip or better to leave it alone? Does adding a clip detract from the "value" even though there are a great deal of scratches?

To say the 7500 is well used and scratched up means the value held is negotiable, maybe not in monetary means. Since you love it, the choice is yours. To carry it in a belt pouch, or have it modified to your liking with a carry clip simply depends on what to do. Being careful around an older knife, drilling for a mounted clip (into the liner and through the scale) is worth considering. Was it me, I'd leave it as is and go with the pouch for carry. That way, scratched and much loved it retains it's original character, the rest is just my opine.
