Modifying a Buck 119 with leather stacked grip ...

Wow! You did a heck of job on the handle. It looks really good. I am about to do my second stacked leather handle and the video provided a few ideas that will help. Thanks for posting it. I am seriously jealous of the tools in your workshop.

Thanks! I'm particularly happy with how this one came out.
Most of the tools in my shop are NOT the finest quality. Aside from the leather working gear, most are from Harbor Freight.

It's funny I've been posting knife restoration and sheath making videos for years on Youtube but never thought to link them here.

dont love the tubing pin lanyard setup though. I'd prefer a solid pin, but doesnt matter, its your knife. leather looks good though.

video was too long for me to watch whole thing, but I skipped through it and got the jist of it all. nice work on it......

Thought this would be of interest to my fellow Buck fans.
Just posted this Youtube video of me tearing apart my Buck 119 and replacing the synthetic handle with leather. I also ground it down to slim the whole profile a tad.

Wow, you make some awesome leather items. The holsters in your videos are top shelf!

Thanks! I began my channel by making leather holsters and belts for Cowboy Action. But my most popular video by far is a survival sheath I made for a Cold Steel bowie knife:

I don't usually watch entire videos.
You did a pretty good job avoiding the perils of boring the viewer.
Nice job!
👍

Same here. I thought I might watch a few minutes and then skip ahead. I was fascinated by the entire video! Incredible skill and craftsmanship and the video was very well shot, edited, and narrated.

This is incredible! Very nice work! I never knew how these handles were put together since I never saw any pins. Very interesting to see the disassembly and then custom reassembly. Has Buck ever produced a leather handle for the 119 or any knives similar to it?

Buck made a stacked leather 119 for Cabela’s in the early 1990s and made stacked leather 102s and 105s for L.L. Bean within the last few years. Lots of people would love to see Buck release models with stacked leather handles again. Instead we get cerakoated blades that no one really likes.

I believe there were some short runs of 119 and 117 done military style about ten years ago (??)

I’d love a 102 in stacked leather. Didn’t know that existed, now I’m going to seek one out.
