This question has come up several times since the BK-10's have been shipping out.
I posted a quick tutorial in the middle of another thread, but I thought I'd give the topic its own thread for ease of search.
Here's a quick mod that helped my BK-7 better fit its sheath:

1. Remove the liner from the nylon sheath, and dip the end in question into some boiling water. Hold it in for about 30 seconds. BE SURE you have some Krispy Kreme donuts handy.

2. As soon as you take it out of the water, shove in the knife. I wrap my blades with tape when I do these mods. The liner will shrink just a touch as it cools, so it helps for a better fit if there's a little extra between the liner and the knife. Otherwise, the fit is generally too tight.

3. The result is a sheath liner fit to the contour of the thumb ramp and a better fit all around.

Easy peasy, as my son would say.

This works like a charm, did it to a spec ops for my 7 after reading the original post. You can also make coffee with the boiling water to go with the Krispy Kremes when you're done with the sheath. That way you can have coffee and donuts while you're grinding the ramp off. :D

Works great. Thanks for tutorial.
Remember the Krispy Kreme donuts for the perfect fit.

I wish I would have known about this yesterday. I was struggling for a while trying to get my 7 to fit into one. :( I think I broke the sleeve too. :( can I get new sleeves anywhere?

Yes, you can. I contacted their customer service, and got a response from an exec. I had tried to straighten my liner out (they come with a curve for retention, but it doesn't do so well with .25" knives) to fit my Fehrman Last Chance, and it got all jacked up. He sent me one without the curve at no charge. I was really happy with Spec Ops customer service.

Awesome! They're definately getting more of my money.

I thought they stopped making them?? Do you have any contact info for them?? Thanks.

eventually i'll have the round tuits to do this with the Camillus BK77s, as THEY never fit right, they either cut them, or they split. i figure i can spin the doohickey around, boil and stretch it, and go back to storage :)

definitely have to do this with the sheath i got for the BK10.

eventually :>

Feel like I'm asking a dumb question . . . but how do you remove the liner?

The liner on my new short Spec Ops sheath is stuck tighter than a drum and even a good pair of pliers won't budge it . . .

grind the ramp off - BK10 fits perfect, no mods to the sheath needed...
just sayin'... :D
