Modifying a STARMATE?

I had an idea the other day and was wondering if any one had thought about it or tried it themselves? Warranty concerns aside, I was thinking that if I removed the front portion of the opening hole on my STARMATE and some of the top what I would be left with is a "wave" very much like the one on my EMERSON COMMANDER. It would be a simple task to relocate the pocket clip and I feel that if done right I could still use what was left of the "hole" to open the knife as it was intended.
Does any one have any thoughts on the matter?

The Kershaw Talon came in three models: plain-edge, (partially) serrated, and one strange design that had what was called a bottle-opener on the back of the blade.

In fact, it was an opening hole with no top, just as you described, and would work like a Wave.

Thanks Esav, I had forgotten about that knife. I guy I know who works in a knife store used to demo that knife in that manner whan trying to describe how the wave on the COMMANDER works.

Continuing with the list of "wave-like" openers, and incidentally, Spyderco products, there is the Jot Singh Khalsa. The current clip configuration doesn't allow the use of this feature, but if you were to mount the clip for tip-up carry, the hump catches a pocket seam quite well, flicking the blade out quickly and reliably. I seem to remember someone linking to Frank Recupero's website to show off their re-handled Khalsa, which had the clip set up for this kind of draw.

Hello KNIFE THROWER, could you post a scan of your awesome waved C55?

SAMO, I have not made the modification (yet???). I wanted to get others thoughts on it first. If I do the mod. I will see if I can figure out how to post a pic. That will be a hole other adventure!
