Modifying Bucklite

I have a new bucklite that I got at Dicks for 18 bucks. I love it. However, two things I'd like to do, which won't upset me if I mess up are arrange for one hand opening (i can do it now, but if my hands are wet or cold, I forsee a problem) and switch the clip to enable for tip-up.

first, OHO - since there's a place for the index finger in the handle, I don't see a thumbstud (the easier of the two) happening, which leaves me with a thumbdisk. I don't have a drill press. any suggestions? I can cannibalize a disk and screw from a cheapie frost knife I have, and I have locktite.

flipping the clip --since the clip is interchangeable for lefties, I thought i might be able to get away with tip up carry. The holes for the screws don't go into where the blade sits, so i thought if I drilled one on the butt end, i wouldn't have the problem of the blade catching the screw. epoxy or superglue would hold the screw pretty tight i think. if it did get a little loose, the hole for the prong would add extra support, especially if it too were epoxied.

any suggestions?

i figured you guys would be the best to ask, as the lanyard hole on my 110 came out perfect.

i love the bucklite. if the 110 is the jesus of knives, than the lite is certainly a saint.

thanks.

If it has a hole for opening like a Spyderco, you might try using a zip tie as a thumb stud. Sorry, right now I'm just not remembering if it has that feature or not.

Jude--one option for the thumbstud would be the famous "One Armed Bandit," available from Smokey Mountain Knifeworks. Easy as pie and very effective.

For a more permanent thumbstud, and also for the clip change, you might contact STR, who visits this forum frequently. I have used him for just this purpose. He's very affordable, very fast, and a real gentleman.

I'm curious about the 110 lanyard hole. That's a modification that I've wanted for some time. Could you post some pictures, perhaps on a new thread, and/or describe the process?

Here is my own idea for a lanyard hole, prompted by the advice of other forum members who advised against drilling the rear bolster.http://www.bladeforums.com/forums/showthread.php?t=432332&highlight=lanyard

But I haven't dared to do it, since I don't have the shop capacity to make a new spacer, modified as shown in my drawing.

Thanks in advance for any input on the lanyard.
