Modifying collectable knives???

. Let me start by saying I'm not starting this thread to see what to do with my knives. I'm one of the guys that will take a highly collectable knife, immediately disassemble it, and take the grinder to it, if I feel like I can improve the performance for how I intend to use it. I've done it on many occasions :p Lol.

I want to see how many guys are like me, and how many just can't do it (won't)
I can completely understand both sides. To spend $300 $500, $600 and sometimes much more , and not wanting to either risk messing up, or ruining the resale value.

Knives that I don't see any room for improvement, will of course stay stock. I have seen some guys that modify just for the sake of modifying. Nothing wrong with that, but if the knife is already at optimal performance, I can't see touching it.

I know in my case, I'm doing this to balisongs, while some are very desired, they are less inclined to hold their resale value after flipping, but the question is relevant to all knives .

So who is like me, and won't think twice about it, and who will not touch them even if, for example, your prefer a wave, less belly, etc.

Thanks guys. :)

My opinion differs, as you can tell, I am not like you! ;)

Unlike how you feel with it, Sebenza to me is just another well made mass produced.

But I am not a follower, especially with lanyard, some even have multiples, along with gaudy beads and such. But to each his own!

For me, I feel it just gets in the way and filthy looking.

Then, go above a little more than a little here or there with stand offs - mod away to make it uniquely mine: :)

Haha I love my Flytanium man. Might just be my favorite balisong.

And I love that sebenza you got there.

I started with using gaudy lanyards, but soon found all they do is scratch your knife. Now I use a small 2" long simple lanyard.

Balisong, I've seen your collection. You would make our local old country Filipino population proud.

:D :D Thanks man.
I live with a balisong in my hands. I rediscovered them, and have really been enjoying learning the advanced art.

What better for a knife nut, than to get to constantly use and play with you knives.

IMHO, if you modify a "collectable" knife (whatever that may mean to various folks), it is no longer a collectable knife. Knives I buy as a part of my "collection" stay stock. OTOH, those I buy as users I feel free to modify to suit my taste, usage and feel (always have to sharpen them).
