So I bought a bright red Micra about a month ago; it worked fine, I loved it, but I had a few gripes with it: the red color started flaking off almost instantly upon contacting my keys (it was coated, NOT anodized, and I think they use revlon nail polish or something), it had no can opener, and the screwdriver was too wide to remove the screws on the back of the Photon II the micra is usually clipped to.
Last night I was bored so I sanded off the remainder of the red coloring and used a small bench stone to 1. grind down the small screwdriver to be shorter and slimmer (now fits itty-bitty photon battery-change screws) and 2. sharpen the bottle opener to open cans as well (which I later tested on a soup can -- a bit difficult, but it works in a pinch).

I'd really like to dismantle the thing in order to clean out the steel dust and get the red coating out of some hard-to-reach spots. Has anyone done something similar or am I the only loser out here with a "tricked-out" Micra?

Any suggestions appreciated.

I would advise against actuallydisassembling the Micra. It looks like it's not made to go back together if taken apart. I would reccomend shooting it out with WD-40 or something else to flush out the metal and paint dust caught inside it.

Gunscrubber would work well and probably remove some of the excess paint.

Just don't use it on a folder with Delrin spacers (I am the reason that Benchmade stopped recommending Gunscrubber to clean their folders -- I partially melted a friend's Mini-Spike!)

Anyways, since the micra is all metal, you should be fine.
