I know this knife maker who's pretty damn good at hollow grinds and spear points. So I was thinking that if I brought him my 42 and had him grind down the dull side and re center the blade to make it a spearpoint with double sided hollow grinds(this will make the blade about 1/2 inches shorter I beleive). DO you guys think that this will make the blade too thin? For those of you who have the new 42's
would you take the chance? imagine a spearpoint blade. All opinions welcome Can I get some votes..thanks g

Hmmm I'd think it'd be too thin, sounds cool though, but might be too thin in the end..

I think the 42 is thnk enough as it is and making it hollow ground is askign for trouble

Is regrinding easily possible without destroying the tempering? I imagine a nicely blued spearpoint blade

Every hollowgrind I have ever seen, has been much thicker to start out with. I think there wouldn't be enough metal to make the blade strong. It would probably break if you ever dropped. Your knife maker friend will probably tell you that the blade will not be very strong. I would just have him sharpen the swedge or even take the swedge all the way back to the tange. That would be cool, and wouldn't lessen the integredy of the blade. Going all the way back will still weaken the blade.

I might try thinning the bevels a little more so that it slices better, maybe sand using the entire side of the blade as a guide?
