Modifying my Microtech

Hello everyone! This is my very first post on the Forum, however, I have been collecting knives for about 5 years now. I own a Signature Series UTX-70 with a CF top and bronzed hardware. I have been thinking about modifying my UTX-70 and I'm looking for a way to remove the "Bronze coating" in a non-destructive way. I would like to take it down to a stainless finish to be able to send them off to be anodized/powder coated. Ideally, I would love to remove the coating while keeping the laser engraving on the clip and blade. I realize sanding is an option, but I'm worried about ruining the laser etch. Thank you for your help! You can give my Instagram a follow (@jonspocketdump) and shoot me a DM if you have any solutions.

It don't make sense to me to remove one solid vapor coating just to replace it with another very similar as end result anodizing coating but it's your knife after all.
Powder coating will definitely be step down IMO.
As far as I'm aware, you can strip the pvd only mechanically and yes, there is a great chance the laser markings will be gone or smeared in best case scenario...

Hey! Thanks for the response, and I'm sorry, I should've been more descriptive. My plan is to only color the screws blue. the clip and the blade would stay stainless silver. Kinda going for the "Marfione" UTX-70 look with the blue screws, but I like the carbon fiber top on mine. Do you think there is any way to use a type of gun blue to re darken it? As in applying it and lightly wipe it so that only the etch holds the blueing liquid.

Forgot to say, do you think blue anodization is possible on the screws? Or should I go another route?

If you’re looking for the Marfione look just have the blade and clip redone in a hand rubbed satin and the rest of the hardware just do blue. Forget about the lasering on the blade, the customs don’t have that anyways.

It depends of the metal they use on the screws, gun blue doesn't always work on some stainless type of steels.
This goes for the blade too, not sure what steel MT used on your particular model...
I'm not very familiar with this even I'm using the bluing on some of my guns.
You probably have better chance to find replacement screws with the color you like and replace it.
Honestly, I wouldn't touch the knife the way it is... You have much better chance to mess with the look, than get it done the way you intending.
I'd look for a beater from the exchange and play with it instead of messing with new knife but this is me... Good luck anyway

I was looking at photos of it and just realized that they dont have any lasering! Thank you very much, that helps me alot haha. Thats probably what ill end up doing. I modify other knive, but I usually just make scales for them (Penas mostly) So this is a bit different. Thanks!

I Just ordered a set of blue screws for a beater I have, Ill see how it looks on my Ultratech, It's a Tri-grip with a spartan blade but it's pretty beat and re-ground from the previous owner, but not to a point where it doesn't work. I'll see how it looks there Thank you for the help!

That popular auction website has some blue screws, take a look. Can’t post a link here.
