Modifying sharpening-angle of "204"

I do not yet have a Spyderco sharpening system, however, I have ordered one (along with the diamond sticks ;-) ) but hear me out please.

From what I've heard I can make out that the 204 has 3 pre-set sharpening angles... But what if you want a bigger or smaller angle just this once...?

Well, I tought that you could "slant" the table:

-Determine the excact middle of the worktop of a sturdy, small working table.
-Position the 204 there, perhaps on a rubber mat to prevent slipping.
-put some wood blocks or anything under the table-legs on one side to modify the angle the way you want.
-Sharpen one side
-Keeping the 204 excactly in the worktop-middle should allow you to do the other side.

I don't know if this is actually feasable... the actual size of the 204 and its makup are unknown to me but I'm sure you guys have an idea :-)

Bye

Koolstof,
This might be hard to believe but you really do not need another sharpening angles than Sharpmaker has as preset ones. Sharpen your very edge at 40 degrees (20 per side), add back bevel at 30 degrees (15 per side).
The cutting performance of your edge versus its durability could be varied depending on the width ratio between these areas. If the main edge will make the major part of sharpening area with only shoulder removed at 30 degrees - your edge will be strong. If you will extend the back bevel to almost whole width of sharpening area with pretty narrow foreedge at 40 degrees – your edge will be weaker but it will cut better.
Of course there are a lot of variations between these extreme setups. Also the blade steel and knife intended use should be taken into consideration.

Also you can vary sharpening angle as you wish setting up Sharpmaker in bench stone mode and sharpening free hand.
