Modifying Thumb Studs

Some Benchmade knives have a thumb stud on the left side of the blade only. If I wanted to replace the stock thumb stud with ambidextrous thumb studs is their a way to do this? I have seen kits available on the web for replacing ambidextrous thumb studs and was wondering if these would work to replace a "single-sided" stud.

Are there any gottchas that I should know about, or any hints that you could share?

I know knives like the torrent have a philips screw on the reverse so you can swap the stud to the other side. Not sure if thats what you were looking for. If you own one you should take the stud off so you can find the diameter, i dont have any BM's aside from the grip.
