Modifying ZT0770 for Tip-Down

As the title says, does anyone see a problem with doing this? I bought a 770 from Kershawguy (outstanding service by the way! Thanks, Dave!) and I love the knife, but I have to readjust my hand every time I pull the knife from my pocket, which I hate; my hands just aren't large enough to get my index finger on the flipper from the beginning. I typically carry tip-up, but I feel some knives are just more well suited for being carried tip-down - flippers being in that category.

Not really trying to get a thread going on tip-up vs tip-down as we all know it's personal preference and that topic has been beat to death. More looking for views on tapping some holes for tip-down and making sure I'm not overlooking any potential problems I may run into. Thanks in advance!

Maybe this thread would be better suited in the tinkering forum; could I get it moved please?

Looking at the handle near the pivot, the flat may not be wide enough to use the same pocket clip. You might need to use a clip like the one that comes on a 0560 where the two screws are aligned parallel to the clip length. Alternatively, maybe something similar to a Paramilitary 2 clip can be mounted "above" the pivot.

I had considered that the 560 clip might be better suited - I never thought about using a para2 clip. That might be better. Aside from clip design I needn't worry about messing anything else up, aside from drilling and tapping incorrectly, yes?

I have converted 2 Benchmades to tip down carry. This was probably a little more touchy because of the Axis lock. As Turbo stated, find a clip with workable hole spacing. After drilling and tapping, you'll want to make sure the screws don't protrude in such a way as to interfere with the pivot mechanism. I assembled the clip onto the scale and liner, then filed the screws to the proper length. You will also need to make sure the screws aren't to short. I like to thread the scale and liner as a unit, to provide increased thread engagement. Good luck, and take your time with it!

Perfect. Thanks for the tips everyone. I'll get to work as soon as I can get a hold of a 560 clip and a drill press. If it turns out nice enough I'll post pictures. ;)
