Thanks for watching!

Tohubohu,

Would it ok if you make the butt a little tapered?
Just in case you want to use this in the dark, you will know where to choke up and change your handling for a full swing.

Hello Jay,

Theoretically, any kind of handle could be done. If you are interested, just send me a PM and a drawing of how would you like the handle to be.

I have made this style of hawk before and the problem I had was that the handle wood split where the bolts hold the head. go throw it at a target 10 or 15 times and then try chopping a wrist thick branch up in to firewood a few times. that ought to be a good test of will it hold together. maybe some langalettes (sp) would help strengthens this spot.

nice size and stylish. but in the field durability is first.

As I mentionned before, I designed this hawk for combat purposes only, not as a camp or trail hawk. The idea is to create a very lightweight hawk to keep in the hand for CQC.
I created the pry version of it for "heavier" purposes.
G10 is not wood, and will withstand many more blows.

I wanted a very agile, simple, lightweight, discrete and affordable hawk, and so far, I'm satisfied with the results, but I constantly try to emprove my models.

Thanks for your opinion, Omniviking!

These look cool, the only thing I was wondering is have you tried "Pinching" the head in place instead of bolted to one side ?
If you split the handle down the middle and sandwiched the blade in with the bolts running through, I would think it would be stronger and more stable.
I am not an expert though and it looks good as is too..lol
Thanks for sharing your work with us.

Thanks Silverthorn!

In the G10 handle versions the blade, as you suggest, is pinched between the 2 halves of the handle; you can see it in the "butts" detail pictures.

Only in the pry version the handle is bolted to one side.
