Desert camp
The front door

Cave camping

Hiking in the desert is something that takes experience and a lot of stupidity!

Dress like a bank robber

The wind was up to 23 mph gusts and all of it…HOT!

Gear and camp

Hawk hatchet.
With a 1 lb. head and 14” handle, it’s right at hatchet weight. It split firewood into pencil and finger thickness for a cook fire.

The Mora #2/0 is one of my favorite knives on this planet.

Dinner!

Around Camp

Hagan Trail

Window rock

Camel Rock

The Mohave is awesome! I was there two weeks ago and it is beautiful. Is hot, but at least it is not humid:D it was over 100 here last week with 90% humidity!
Thanks for those pictures, it makes me want to go back for another visit really soon:thumbup:

When the state police say to me, "This is the worst time of the year to be out here" I know I'm onto something!

Red Rock is a special place, but I'll go in the cooler months, thank you very much.:D

As usual, great pictures! But, i had to lower the temperature on my thermostat just looking at them.

Looks like a beautiful place. And a particularly fun one, too, for someone who likes scrambling around on rocks as much as I do. You're lucky to live nearby.

Amazing pictures really.

Have any night photos? I remember activity at night when I stayed.

I'm sure it was not crowded. I've tent camped in Fla with the temp over 100F. Like me you survived- Your not exactly a greenhorn to the outdoors! Great Pics.

Great pics! I must have missed these earlier. This is about how it feels today, 105 in my neck of the woods.

No crowd at all or people. Sleeping in the Grand Canyon many years ago was hard at 90F at night. The jungle is also very warm and humid, mostly just sweat to sleep in Philippines and Peru!
This Southwest desert rivals Egypt and Western Australia for dryness! However, WA has a more depleted ozone layer and burn time is much shorter. Worst sun exposure and sunburn I ever got was hiking in Broome, Australia with a basball cap and t-shirt.

I hate the heat, but put some wilderness and scenery in front of me and I feel like I'm strolling through a mall sipping iced mocha!
