Listening (reading) here for quite a while I have been researching (drooling over) the Mojo/Mofo/Mefo blades since long before the Doghouse Sale ever existed. I've made a few assumptions that I was hoping to confirm as well as the most important question EVER.

Assumption 1:
The difference between "Uncle" and "Mr." is whether it has a bottle opener or a thumb nubby thingy.

Assumption 2:
The difference between "Mofo" and "Mojo" is whether it has a full height grind or a saber grind.

Assumption 3:
The difference between "Mofo" and "Mefo" is simply a printing error on the blade.

Assumption 4: Well, actually more like a "this is what I heard" kind of thing...
These series knives were made to be light and nimble, and therefore do not compare with other blades its size as far as chopping is concerned. Hollow micarta or some such thing, maybe not as thick? dunno.

Particularly based on #4...here's my question:

Are there any HOG grade Mojo/Mefo/Mofo's out there that might be better suited for heavy duty chopping?

Thanks all,

assumption 1 - yes

Assumption 2- is Yes, plus :
The Mojo is 1/4 inch flat ground (not sure of exact thickness)

The Mofo/Mefo is 3/16 inch saber ground.

Assumption 3: yes that is what I remember

Assumption 4: No not Hollow micarta. I think it was that the tangs were drilled or something like that but I can't remember now. As for strength, I don't think that is an issue.

Both are extremely strong in lateral flex and would make good choppers.

Mofo/Mefo = 0.22"

No errors! There are no Busse 'seconds.' Just a different font.

Chopper? Flesh yes, hardwood not the intended use.

Hollow handle? Not my concern. This bitch is so balanced in the hand you feel empowered with it in your grasp. The new B.A.R.F. is quick in the hand but handling a Mr Mofo is sensually stimulating! I have two and I have to restrain myself from buying more (like the one on E-bay.)

I believe the bottle opener or a thumb nubby thingy is refered to as a "blade catch"

But I thought that the target was supposed to be the "blade catch"? :p

Thanks guys. I figured that I had some of it wrong.

As PG said the Mofo's have the swedge grind the Mojo's do not. I also don't know of any Mojo's that are uncoated(unless they were variants) and I don't know of any Mofo's that were black crinkle coated. There were some desert Mr. Mofo's made, but not many and as far as I know there were never any desert Uncle Mofo's made as I had my name in first for those and I never got one ;)

They were 1/4" but they sure don't feel like it.

Also, be wary of a Combat Grade Mr. Mojo that is out there that looks "odd" We saw it at Blade show a couple of years ago, someone selling it walked up to the booth and asked if anyone was interested. We asked what was up with the tip and he suggested he had just sharpened it and everything else was factory. Upon further questioning, he said he had reground the tip giving it a sort of "bullnose" look. It is not factory, and I'd sure avoid it like the plaque

All my Mofos are right around 1/4". Definitely not 3/16".

your right. They are thicker than 3/16 but don't seem a full 1/4 to me. Maybe I should stop eyeballing thcknesses:jerkit:

Let me clear this up for you...

There will be a VERY special offer in the email. This will be a one time offering only and the special offer will be one to remember!!!!

VERY COOL!!!!

The blade is .220" thick. (For reference 1/4" = .250 and 3/16" = .187
.218" is dead center between these two thickness.) The satin finished blade is Zero-Edged like the Active Duty!

Air-Bleeding Sharp!!!!

Stay tuned!"
