Handmade Mother of Pearl Gorgeousness

Great review. Moki folders certainly look pleasing to the eye. I am looking forward to parts 2 and 3.

I have carried a Moki folder with plastic handles for over 10 years. I have never owned a knife that holds an edge like the Moki. I just wish I could find somewhere to get it sharpened back to its original sharpness. I can never get the edge as smooth as it came from the factory. I own hundreds of knives and over 30 customs and this is as good as any of them and better than most. Worth every penny.

Does the knife have a blade in VG10 or AUS8? Which model is it?

hi
i have two moki and two seki cut / moki
such a great knife
its amusing to see Al Mar , going for stupid prices
and you can still get Moki for reasonable price

Thanks for sharing these great photos!

Stefan,

Thank you.

I enjoyed your excellent video review.

Can you please share the lighting arrangement you used for it?

I've seen a few Moki 500 series still available - but hardly anything on the MK-509 -
doing a search I find my own post here on BladeForums!
I mention this because Sal Glesser (Mr. Spyderco) the person who sold me the knife at the end of a Blade Show -
responded to that old thread.

I have to assume the MK-509, at least, seems to be discontinued -
but since you seem to have better connections with Moki -
perhaps you can please tell us whether the 500 series is still around.

I use a pair of softboxes with daylight bulbs.
Very nice, thanks for the info.

What daylight bulbs - tungsten with color filter/glass, or CFL.... or LEDs?
and how many watts equivalent or lumens output?

The current printed catalog only lists the models 501 (Amaranth), 502 (Blossom), and 533 (Kronos).
I was afraid of that - the old 500 series with MoP (mother of pearl) handles was 501-509.
I have seen the 501 and 502, and the occasional 503 listed abroad.
All the others I can't even find pictures - excepting my 509 - I find my own pic!

Thanks,
