Moki Aiora - MK-509 - mother of pearl and abalone - ATS-34

Aiora_2S.jpg

A "handmade factory custom" knife - used to be marketed by Spyderco.

Anyone with this, or any others in the series?

Don't own one, but sure wish I did. It's beautiful. I remember seeing them in the old Ironstone catalogs. Too poor back then to own one.

Congratulations UnknownVT. Very nice aquisition. I have all of the "500" ( 1 though 9) series pieces. They are each exqusite in their own way. They were ATS-34, which was the latest and greatest steel at the time. As good as any customs I'd seen.

Moki may have some about, but they generally don't make them for inventory. Spyderco had to order fairly large quantities to be able to distribute them. They were very expensive and thus had limited sales. The aiora retailed for somewhere around $300+ (1990) as I remember

I only have a Moki Glory, which is a lot lower on the scale than the 500 series, but it is a very well-made knife. I would highly recommend any of these, the quality is outstanding. I remember seeing these in the ironstone catalog, but they were out of my price range.

Moki knives are some of the nicest, best made factory knives period. Fit and finish is so good, you can barely see where the blade meets the backspring.

I sure wish somebody would import more Moki knives into the U.S.A. (Blatant subliminal begging towards Sal)

Yeah, maybe something just slightly bigger than the Al Mar Hawk.
