Hi all,

Moki has recently made a kind of replica of one of their early knives, perhaps even their first knife when the company started in 1907. It is featured on some pictures in their logo. The model is called MK-01K Renaissance, and it is a lovely slipjoint that resembles the classic American style:

Some details:
blade 6.5 cm (2mm thick), handle 8.5 cm, 47 grams, Aus-8 blade steel, cocobolo wood inlay.
The knife is (true to Moki's reputation) impeccably finished.
My one complaint is that the backspring is rather soft.

I also made a little video review about it, so if you're eager to see it under more angles: click HERE.

Pretty nice. Looks like an "updated" classic.

Looks like a well thought out, well finished knife. Not that I don't like AUS8,but an upgrade in stainless,or a good carbon steel would have made it even sweeter.-Jim

I've been wanting a Moki made knife that uses the Moki name for a while now and this looks like the one for me. It is a beauty. Does anyone know if Moki is making the new pinched peanuts for AG Russell? Those are also on my list to buy.

Update: Just ordered mine. Thanks to Dagon for letting us know this knife was being produced.

Ditto. My first thought was, "Too bad it's not a carbon blade...", as that would seem definitively 'traditional' for a reproduction of an 'old' knife. Having said that, AUS-8 is OK. And VG-10, as with many of Moki's other knives, would be even better for a stainless version.

This is a very attractive knife.

Thanks for sharing. I think its a great lookin knife. Not sure about the lanyard hole though...
I've had a couple knives in AUS-8, and with the heat treat they had, it actually served me well. Easy to touch up too

Another excellent review by Dagon. Thank you for your insights. The Moki looks to be a very appealing pocketknife

That's a sweet looking knife. I've managed to pick up a couple of similar style S&M knives; this looks at least as good. The AUS-8 steel is a fine choice IMO. Thanks for posting this up. - Ed J

Really like the way this looks. Looked around & could not find it. If you don't mind, what is the going price on these?

Thanks - Pat.

Do a search on "moki renaissance" -- one source I saw was selling for about $110 - which for a higher end Moki is within reason.

Here are some pictures of my Moki that I ordered thanks to Dagon a few weeks ago.

Love the balde shape.

The fit and finish of this knife is top notch. Like Dagon said there is no half stop and the snap is not as strong as most knifes, but the fit and finish make up for it. I think the snap has to do with how these old style knifes were made and I think they are trying to be true to form. Should be a very collectible knife in a few years.

I really like the looks of that one and personally I'm still a fan of 8A; it has always served me well!

Great review, looks like a great knife, very reminiscent of the new S&M heritage series, I geuss this would make sense because the originals came out around the same time. I really wAnt to try a Moki branded knife, or perhaps just upgrade my G-10 Caly 3 to the new CF version.
