Could a balisong be made with mokume handles? Maybe with abalone inlay and a sculptured blade.... :D I'm sure it'd be real inexpensive. I don't know much about mokume, would it be a suitable material for a handle?

Mokume can vary in composition. I have made it from brass and copper and in the next week or so I will make some with copper and nickel silver. I have a Bailsong with brass handles so I guess Mokume would be okay as long as it wasnt abused.

Yes, in general, it would work just fine.

And it would be exceptionally nice with Devin Thomas mokume.:)

It would work fine, but as you say it would make for a very expensive knife. Mokume comes in at or above the price per inch of most of the Damascus out there. It would make for a very interesting knife though, wouldn't it?

My wife told me this morning that I needed to take my new model and put mokume on it and a damascus blade.

So the possibility of a gorgeous handmade bali with exotic materials near the price of a ltd. edition BM exists? Exscuse me for a moment whilst I retrieve my tongue from the floor :p :D
