After reading about these stones...kind of like Japanese water stones but small....1/16-1/4" thick x 1/4-1" wide or so....I ordered a few and started stoning my folder blades. What a shock! These things work wonders. I began stoning a flat ground blade that I thought was very flatly gound, sanded to 400 and lookin good. Well...these stones told me the blade was not flat, had a few divots and bumps I was unable to see previously and after taking the blade to 900...it looks mahvelous. I have sanded my blades with sticks, metal rulers, pcs of blade steel, cork lined, rubber lined....all holding a pc of sandpaper trying to find the best deal. I use the Bose method of sanding a hollow ground blade on a smaller diameter wheel held stationary. They all work to an extent. But these stones really give you a quick, flawless surface. They are relatively cheap....from about $2 to $4 or so. You use them with a kerosene lubricant or some other. Try it....you might like it and it doesn't cost much to try. You can also gridn them very easily toi any shape. I gound one in a curve to stone the inside and beginning of a cut swedge. Perfecto!
