Moldy satanite?

This is a weird one, but I mixed up some satanite in a airtight jar. I used it to repair some cracks in my forge refractory, but I made extra to use as hamon clay.

Maybe it was something in the NH air or water where I mixed it, but I just opened the jar a few weeks later, and there seems to be mold growing in it. It looks like a combo of fuzzy mold and black mold. Has anyone heard of this happening?

I've never had that issue, however I think you could add some alcohol to make the clay like 20 proof and it won't have much effect but may kill and prevent mold, not sure. But I have used alcohol and clay to apply and dry faster, it works fine.
