Moleskine Notebook "Warranty"???

I’ve been using Moleskine notebooks for many years. Yeah, I know the original company folded years ago and the current batch is being made in China, but old habits……….

Anyway, packed in with them is always a little promo sheet that includes their warranty. Basically, it says if there is “a defect of any kind” (quote from the sheet), just send them a digital photo and “Quality Control #” and they will replace it. So when the binding on one I am currently carrying broke apart, that’s what I did. And got no reply. So, wrote again, and sent another photo.

That was 6 months ago.

Still waiting for a reply.

So maybe it is time I found another notebook to carry. So, anyone else have the same “response” from the pseudo-Moleskine folks in China?

FWIW - I now use Moleskine knock offs (WH Smith brand from the UK) which are a third of the price and work just as well. Maybe the paper isn't quite as nice but they hold up with my daily use.

Give their New York office a call on Tuesday.

I got a replacement a few years ago without any issues due to a split binding. The same thing is happening with the replacement. I'll be buying a better brand next (there are plenty).

I have a Piccadilly notebook I got from Borders. It was about a quarter the price of a Moleskine and just as nice.

I like moleskines for some of the patterns they offer. Never had a warranty claim though. I often times will carry sketch books I find on sale/clearance in lieu of a moleskine. They usually hold up better anyways. Also a good way to try different paper/ink/lead combos if you do a bit of writing or drawing.

I bought a few about one year ago and the bindings split on each of them. Those were the last I will buy.

I used to always have a Moleskine with me, but all I carry anymore are Rite in the Rain pads. They are all that can handle being in my pocket next to my sweaty crotch. :D

I switched to Miquelrius notebooks and have not looked back. They make them in various sizes including some that are smaller than Moleskines and are flexible, so they fit in my pants pocket better. They do have the elastic strap and pocket in the back.
