Maybe it is just me, but I have been annoyed by how sand and debris can get into my kydex sheath and really scratch the .... out of my blade. I feel like if I were dealing with something softer like leather or nylon, this effect would be lessened. Anyway, I would really like a sheath that can attach solidly to PALS webbing to use for whatever mora I am carrying that day. I'm thinking that a cordura sheath like the spec ops one would be best.

Anyone have any experience with carrying your mora in this type of sheath?

I do not want to spend a bunch of money if I can avoid it. I would think that a simple but tough nylon sheath would not be a terribly expensive commodity.

My moras include the 711, 911, 511, and clipper. All shorter blades.

Thanks in advance.

The Spec-Ops sheaths are nylon with a hard plastic liner. Removing the liner would make the nylon too loose to use, it's just not made for it.

The liner should be warmed with a hair dryer or heat gun, and fit/refit to any blade you use in the sheath for a decent fit.

What you're looking for doesn't seem to exist on the market. It's something you'd have to have custom made, and even then I don't think it's going to fix the problem.

Most Mora knives I've seen come with a molded plastic sheath. If the problem is that dirt and grit are messing up your blades, just rinse out the sheath. It's not leather, so getting it wet isn't exactly going to hurt it.

Also, Moras are generally pretty cheap, especially for the value you're getting. If you're going to flip out about scratching up a knife, it ought to be a special knife. These are users, through and through. They're GONNA get scratched.

Also, I have a feeling that the soft nylon, being a permeable fabric, would hold onto pieces of grit moreso than smooth kydex. Pieces of dirt or sand would work themselves in between fibers and resist being rinsed out.
