Do either of these two devices allow for horizonal mounting of the RC-3 Kydex sheath. I would like bushcraft type cross draw for my right hand and wanted to see if they work with a regular belt versus a canvas duty belt.

Thanks,

Lorenzo

Yes, both the MOLLE locks and a Tec Lok can be used vertical or horozontal (and even somewhere in between).

Or you can use para cord. This is how I wear my 3-4 and Izula most of the time. I too prefer a cross draw.

I know it doesnt look like it would be but its very secure and works well. Sorry for the cruddy pics.

both Tek Lock and MOLLE locks will mount to the ESEE 3 sheath for horizontal carry. But understand the MOLLE locks are not really designed for belt carry rather for thinner material like webbing and such. The Tek Lock works fine with a belt. Mike

I found the MOLLE locks bulged quite a bit on a belt (even a thin belt) and the paracord laced through the eyelets was a bit of a pain to to every day and tended to sag with the handle-heavy knives (like my HEST and RC5).

I rigged my RC5 to have a scout carry system, but am now having a custom leather sheath built by Dwayne at ARMORALLEATHER.

I'm also in line for Shotty to whip up a new kydex sheath for my HEST so I can have one set up for scout carry with that, too.

i currnetly cary a rc3 hroisontal on my back on my gun belt. so far i have had no problems. i started out useing the molley locks and changed over to the tek loc and like it much better. so far i have bet the hell out of this set up and never lost my knive.
just my experience,
matt

What size TecLoc do you use? If large, do you use the locking bar?

i use the large as it wa the only one that would go around the tactical tailor belt i have. i used just he tec lok for a while, and then i stated cheating, i burned a bolt hole in the belt and set the knife at the exact angle i wanted and bloted it there. just so you know what i mean bu bet the hell out of it, i am in afghanistand as a flight medic and i wear a ton of gear that bounces off of the knive if i bend in certain ways and i dont do alot of walking its all running.

I've been using the 550 cord since I got my 3, but this thread has prompted me to see what else I could come up with. I have a lot of bits and pieces from various holsters, etc.
First, is a belt loop from Blade-Tech. I had to use longer screws and some spacers, but I think it works well. In the third picture, you can see that there weren't enough holes for vertical carry, but some slight drilling would fix that.

Here are two other examples. The first is a paddle from an Uncle Mike's holster, there was no way to line the holes up vertically.

Next may be the most versatile method if you already like the MOLLE-Locs from Blade-Tech, these are the MALICE clips from Tactical Tailor. Not as rigid as the MOLLE-Locs and much easier to drill if you need additional holes for horizontal carry.
