Mollie locks and esee6 ( my solution)

Hello again, as I was experimenting with the Mollie locks I , as well as many many other people discovered that they don't exactly mount very high on the sheath, this causes the knife to become "top heavy" when mounted to a belt, pack, etc... My solution to this problem is to drill some extra holes in the plastic between the existing holes... This allows the mollie locks to be mounted higher than they would normally be. Ultimately, they could be mounted even higher but my OCD caused the drill to touch center between the existing holes... :o

What do you guys think?

I know many speak highly of the Mollie back but I'm not a fan... I have the MB for my 4. It only survived one outing before I took it off...

Looks good. Used with a thinner belt that looks like it would provide the perfect ride height for me.

One other problem many people have is that they dont feel the molle locks are very secure. Something simple I did to try and help with that is run a loop of gutted paracord in between the molle lock and sheath, run the loose ends back through the loop, so the molle lock is wrapped and secure it with a cord lock. Easy to take on and off, and keeps the molle locks from popping open.

Thanks for sharing this useful idea!

How do you feel the balancing in this configuration?

EDIT: Sorry, double post...

Looks good, my molles ride where they came, in the "plastic bag" they were shipped in. I just dont trust them, i may try one of these days to mount them to a pack but i like to know its there and cant come off unless the pack gets Ripped off my body. I always carry the 6 on belt paracorded at least till i get a new leather sheath for it.
I hope it works good for you, let us know.
Happy Holidays!

P.S. what are you referring to when you say OCD?

For me it balances perfectly... Still top heavy but when wearing it ( usually 4 o'clock ) it has a nice neutral feel. Before the tip of the sheath would dig into my leg and it felt the knife wanted to flip over... Now it feels plastered onto my hip. Very comfortable.

@ blood groove OCD = obsessive compulsive disorder :( , pretty much if the holes were not center it would bug the crap out of me...

@ decklin imma try that, I'll report back.

Here is a pic I just took for reference:
