I have used Moly Resin on a couple of my handmade fixed blades and it has always worked out very well. I decided to try the coating on my Sebenza 21 & 25. I used a dark grey on the 21 and a burnt bronze metal flake on the 25. The dark grey has a unique characteristic that if you leave the piece in the oven for 30 minutes longer at at 325-350°, the color will have a slight military green hue to it. The normal cure time is 1 hour at 300°. The burnt bronze has no such characteristic. I first media blasted the scales with 80 grit aluminium oxide, then cleaned the parts and taped off where the washer sets. I then preheated the scales to 150° or so and coated the parts using an airbrush. The coating goes on very thin. The last step is to put the parts in the oven for 1 to 1.5 hours. I really like the way the scales turned out. What do you guys think? I can't post attachments so I have posted a link to a Dropbox folder.
