Moly Resin on scales

I have used Moly Resin on a couple of my handmade fixed blades and it has always worked out very well. I decided to try the coating on my Sebenza 21 & 25. I used a dark grey on the 21 and a burnt bronze metal flake on the 25. The dark grey has a unique characteristic that if you leave the piece in the oven for 30 minutes longer at at 325-350°, the color will have a slight military green hue to it. The normal cure time is 1 hour at 300°. The burnt bronze has no such characteristic. I first media blasted the scales with 80 grit aluminium oxide, then cleaned the parts and taped off where the washer sets. I then preheated the scales to 150° or so and coated the parts using an airbrush. The coating goes on very thin. The last step is to put the parts in the oven for 1 to 1.5 hours. I really like the way the scales turned out. What do you guys think? I can't post attachments so I have posted a link to a Dropbox folder.

Cool looking, sounds like it should be fairly durable. Does it feel like it has grip?

BTW- is that a Leatherman Tread bracelet you're wearing? How do you like it? Looks bigger than the pics on Amazon.

The coating is very durable, its kind of like Cerakote. You can scratch it, but it holds up very well with normal use. The grip is a little slicker than leaving the scales unfinished but not much. The coating is very thin at less than .001", so you can still feel and see the sand blasted texture. If I decide that I don't like the color, I can just re-blast the scales and the knife will look like it just returned from the spa.

I am in fact wearing a Leatherman Tread bracelet. I am using it as my watch band. You can purchase the adapters to fit watches from Amazon also. The bracelet measures 1.145" wide.

There are several colors available. I only have flat black, flat greyish-black and the burnt bronze. Moly Resin is mostly used on firearms like AR-15's, Glocks..., so the colors stay pretty basic. You can also ship your guns or knives directly to them since they are a licensed firearms manufacturer and they will coat the parts for you. I need to refinish a few of my old guns also.
