Molybdenum Disulfide coatings on knives?

Has anyone attempted this with not necessarily the blade but the tang for pitting resistance? not oxidation. Instead of say electroplating.....

Or blade. Albeit afaik it would not...be a very good coating for a knife although it is a friction coefficient redux

I don't know if anyone ever tried it, but it does not seem like it would work.

Are you referring to the tang coating or blade? I'm aware it's not going to work on the blade but I was talking with the guy that does my electroplating especially cause I do not trust myself with stainless and it may be a longer lasting thicker coating but it is pretty soft I think? (Iirc 3-450HV?) Anyway basically it's a money saving deal and I was just wondering if anyone had experience with said coating because I do not!

I assume this is on a full tang knife? sounds like it would make it harder to finish the handle
