She's 62 years old. Life has been hard on her. Just the last few years she has been enjoying life. Now results came back on her kidney levels. About 60 percent functioning left. She's going to start going to a kidney specialist, but that's not for another 3 weeks.

Hopefully with medication and diet, she'll get it controlled. Scares the heck out of me, I know aging hits us all, but I was just hoping it wouldn't be for another 10 plus years.

Any smoke or prayers would be appreciated. God bless.

My thoughts and prayers are with You and Your Mother.
Hang in there with the Doctors and make sure She is eating right ( bad food will cause more problems ).
While You help Her, try to take care or yourself also.
Hopfully You have some support from Family and Friends.
A few humorous tv programs and fresh air with some spring flowers won't hurt either.

Positive thoughts and prayers. I hope things improve for you both and your family.

Smoke goin up from Oregon. I hope she is able to get on top of it, and have many healthy years ahead of her

My mom has been going through some hard times healthwise as well so I know just how you feel. It started about 4 years ago with a massive heart attack out of the blue and an emergency triple bypass. Fast forward to a few months ago when she started going to a new doctor and having a blood panel done. Results about her kidneys were bad, very bad. Her doctor said stage 4 diabetic kidney disease and that she had roughly 20% function. Over the next few weeks it plummeted to about 9%. It's now around 3 or 4% and she is on dialysis trying to get in shape to get on the transplant list. It's been a rough transition for her but it's nearly as bad as it used to be- even just a few years ago- to be on dialysis. She does her treatments at home, while she sleeps at night. She can still live a normal life, even if she never gets a transplant.

All the well wishes in the world for your mom and hopefully her doctors can get it under control fast and hopefully there isn't something more serious causing it. But in the meantime don't let the stress kill you. It's amazing that we live in an age where medicine has progressed to a point where even not having kidneys doesn't have to ruin your life.

Thanks everyone. Bigfatts, God bless to you and your family, I pray for your Mother as well. She's lucky to have you.

N.E. Tim, thanks for the kind words as well. Rev and 338375, I appreciate your support. Thanks everyone.

Positive energy, and prayers sent brother. We are here if you need us.

Prayers to you and your Mom. I lost my Father when he was only 58, it puts a lot of things in perspective. Spend as much time with your Mom as possible, it will be the littlest and most insignificant things that you'll remember fondly later in life.

I hope she can heal up. Diet and doctors can do a lot for kidney problems. The good news is, she was enjoying life, that gives her a goal to go back to!
