so i finally cut myself on my right hand. previously all my substantial injuries have been to my left hand. but tonight i was getting out my ti/sg2 jydii, and i managed to wing it closed onto my thumb, taking most of the tip off. its still intact and i definitely have feeling (not happy about it). but ill be more careful when flipping it from now on. i'd post pics, but i think its more important to stop the bleeding first, as i am typing left handed with my right hand above my head waiting for the finger to clot.

you may now initiate me into the BF loyalist. or razz as you see fit.

but hey, you gotta admit i have good taste in self mutilating instruments

Super glue.

According to the warnings on the label, it bonds skin instantly. ;)

Super glue works wonders. It has saved me many trips to the hospital. In fact Ive never had stitches, I just always use super glue, and trust me there has been lots of times where I needed stitches. My skyline has bit me quite a few times already, more than any other knife has.

oh i know about the virtues of super glue. but because the flap was still attached, i wanted to put pressure on it and see if i could get it to reattach. but even with ice, andthree bandaids (mostly for constant pressure through the night, i bled into the third one.....

I think most of us have been there :(

I would just stick with the pressure and cold. It'll take a while if it was a good cut. When it stops bleeding, you might want to put some Povidone-iodine on it.

If you are going through too many band-aids and need more, just order a new knife from the pharmacy. :)

Ouch! I've done that one too with my blur. It eventually healed...
Never thought about superglue like that.... huh... interesting....

Just glue the flap back down.

Man up, Matt. Turn the stove on high, wait until it glows bright red, and cauterize that thumb. Just push the tip right down on it. I guarantee it won't bleed anymore, and once you wake up after passing out from the pain, It'll only hurt for a week or two! And the smell of burning flesh will clear out in a day or so!

The trick is to have the exhaust fan on before you cauterize.
Also opening the windows prior can help.

The above two posts give me a chill and shudder thinking about!

I cut my right index finger from base to tip, inside, curving side to side, and to the bone once. Three wheeler and a barb wire fence btw, not a knife. Anyway, when I flipped my hand back it flipped open and I was looking at the bone. Not a fond memory. I was young, made it to the house and my dad looked at it and then before I could react he ran my finger under the faucet. I then remember looking up from the floor and not letting him touch me again. Ever. :p

I shudder from experience, the worst kind. I had a good plastic surgeon, finger works perfect, thank god, as it's my trigger finger! I went to the ER and they looked and said sorry, we cannot do anything with that at all. Gee, thanks.

there we go. its ok, the bleeding stopped before i woke up. but lack of usability that thumb sucked today.
