Wow. FINALLY got it from www.thepolicestore.com
One complaint about them, is that their only shipping option for civilians is FedEx ground.
I emailed them several times. HA! NEVER got a response. But hey, good price, and I got it exactly one week after I ordered it, so I won't complain.
First off, its got a good heft to it. Not too much, but just enough to feel solid and to give you some courage.
Flicking it out just FEELS GOOD.
It does make quite a disconcerting sound, similar to racking the slide on a large semi. Anyone around when you deploy it will know you mean business. There's something about the sweet sound of metal on metal...
It does have a bit of play when open, which is normal for the autolocks. I've never used a friction lock, but it sure is nice and easy to close the autolock. Takes a bit of force; its not a delicate item by any means. Just push the button on the butt, and give the tip a good whack against your palm, hip, or the chest of the guy you just dropped with it!
Mine unfortunately has the ugly-looking "Power Safety Tip" which I thought I did NOT order, but according to the factory packaging, it comes standard on the 26". Oh well...
Unfortunately, the solid heft and good size doesn't lend well to casual, concealed carry. I tried sticking it inside the waist of my shorts with my belt cinched tight, and although it was well concealed, the heft made it feel like it could easily slip out, which it did today.
I was getting into my car, and trying to get my phone out of my pocket, and "WHACK!" my baton fell tip-first onto the top of my bare foot. (I was wearing leather flip-flop sandals; NO protection at all.) Fortunately, other than being embarrassed, all it did was give me a good sting.
The Supergrip is fantastic. It feels EXCELLENT in the hand. I've never handled a baton with foam grip, but it would be hard to beat the supergrip. DEFINITELY worth the extra few dollars for it. It feels like it would be incredibly secure under most any conditions. Has a nice tacky feel to it. Also helps secure it in the waist band, but as I said, the weight is too much.
It is OK for IWB carry without a carrier like I have tried, but I wouldn't feel comfortable running or doing anything other than walking. Even then, I'm constantly having to pull it up. Oh well...
Its a great tool, and for anyone considering one, its well worth the $80. The 26" length may be a bit ungainly for some people, so unless you REALLY want a BIG stick, you may want to go for the 21". I couldn't fathom a 31"!
Honestly, the 26 is a long stick.
Boy, this stick sure makes me feel secure! Can't wait to HIT something with it! When I was showing it to my buddy last night, I've NEVER had such a bad urge to hit him before!!!

Stolen quote: "That said, please don't go around hitting dogs with these things..."
Hahahahahaha.....
