Monday is really my Wednesday for my work week. It is however, the first of three busier days for me. I do appreciate going by the PO Box on the way home on Mondays though and finding a new package has arrived. Today was one of those Mondays. The last one was a few weeks ago.

While I didn't receive any neato custom, or high dollar items, I did get the results of a VERY nice buy of the bay. I managed to score 4 brand new Modern type, Frosts Moras in stainless in four different colors - Red, Green, Blue, and Yellow (All stainless though, not the usual color coding for the steels, with button straps at the top of sheath.) Winning bid price was $6.29! Even with shipping and insurance the total was only $16.28 for 4 new, very, very sharp, and very light weight Moras. My wife was delighted to get one for her kitchen knife.

Like I said, nothing spectacular, but what I think is a Pretty good deal on some very usable knives. These are all shaving sharp from the factory and in stainless. Makes you wonder why other makers who have more expensive knives can't deliver such a fine edge on a stainless bladed knife.

Just wanted to share some good stuff. I get the package, and I got to see all those beautiful Ruples in the other thread too! I can enjoy these kind of Mondays.

In the world of fixed blade knives, Mora's are like a break open shotgun- not the most glamorus or "cool" thing going, but you can't argue with the effective way they work!

(I've been known to have one or two stashed here and there!)

My little wood mora has made me so jaded. It's my first real FB, and I just wonder what all the tac guys think they have on it? It's tough, and cuts real well. I would venture that the Carbon steel is a wee bit tougher than 62+rc stainless.

Dijos me old son, those tac guys don't have a single thing on the mora. If you're talking about the same one I have(painted wood handle, laminated blade) that little blade will cut anything you have to slice and dice. It gets vicious sharp, but best of all, it looks very low profile. I made a leather sheath around the plastic one and wear it openly very often. It just looks very utilitarian.

You guys are making me miss my Mora! I had one in my middle 20's, 1970-1972-before I had kids, and before I was a dedicated knife collector. Growing my own vegetables, and having some chickens, even butchered some small island deer (Vancouver Island), I never really needed anything else! I sanded off the paint, whittled some finger grooves in it, smoothed it, and rubbed in some leather dye, then wax. Made a leather sheath. . . I wonder where it is now?? I hope someone is taking care of it!

I was wondering if there are any pages showing custom stock work on the wood handled Moras like we saw on that French page of Opinel artisans and fans. I can only imagine what creative Mora lovers could do with them.
