It's Monday morning here at work. I'm sitting in my office enjoying a cup of coffee and I just want to extend all of you best and prosperous wishes for the new year. It's going to be a big week this week. This may or may not be the last posting to BF I make from work. I feel the noose tightening. It's probably a matter of someone getting to work in the IT department and making my world a little darker with only a few keystrokes. No matter. I can still post at home. NOTHING is going to keep me out of ShopTalk! :)

I have my orientation appointment scheduled tomorrow night for the "Wellness Center" at the hospital here. The WC is really nothing more than a fancy-schmancy fitness club, operating under the guise of being a hospital. It's pretty plush - locker room attendants and everything you could ask for. Now that my wife is working in this new hospital, with the employee discount we can now afford to join it. I need to get fit. Diabetes, overweight, and too much drinking is taking its toll on my health. Time to pay the piper.

Blade Show. Damn it - I definitely GOT to make it this year. Last year was such a busy year. I know I should have taken some time off to go. I regret the decision to stay now. I'm hoping to see many of you there this year.

I'm actually spending time in the shop! This weekend I have made some progress on a stag-handled hunter. The Missus is whining about the smell throughout the house again. I got to figure out some kind of design for a booth to enclose my grinders... Final refining of the hunter tonight - Hopefully tonight I'll post a pic or two. Feels good! I got a few knife ideas in the works. I got a nice chunk of Damascus made by Indian George. I might make something with that next.

So! Happy New Year, everyone! What do you all have going on? Lots of good blades, I hope!

Hey Higgy, Just hook up a phone line to your puter and get a cheap dial-up service :). Good luck on getting in shape. As soon as my back quits giving me fits, I'm going to try and get more physically fit myself. Keep pluggin on the other project. I think it would be a winner.

Hell be on here Mark...he has a cable connection at home :D Wish I did. Now you 2 get better and get in the shop Jeff. I had to have an MRI last year to find out why the nerves in my left thigh were shooting sharp pains down my hip and leg. Come to find out the spider veined joints in my pelvis may have burcitis (sp?) wich is where some of the nerves live to your lower regions. oh well...beats death :p

Damn getting old has its price huh?

9:11
what hours do they let you work :D

I walked into work and as I was standing in front of the coffee machine like every other morning, I just had a feeling of dread. Another year doing the same stuff. Happy New Year. :grumpy:

Poor or enslaved... which one is better? I say better to have the freedom ot make your own decisions about your life than to let another man make them for you. As long as he is buying your life for $x per hour, then he has control over it. Better to be poor and have true freedom. Its what you make it. I've been poor before. Its not that much fun, but I had my self-respect.

Sittin' here dreading tomorrow.......I have been off for the last two weeks, but tomorrow morning I have to be back at the job. :barf: :barf:

Managed to finish up a knife yesterday.....Not too happy with the end results. I tried something a little different and it sorta went to cr*p.

Anyway, gonna try to enjoy what is left of today.

Happy New Year to everyone.

:) freedom sure has it's price and not cheap..
I've been self employed and a one man band for about 16 + years now..
it has been interesting to say the least.

pisssssst the trick is, getting the woman through Collage and into a good job
:D it's been about 4 years now..
and telling her you've razed the kids and fed the family for 28 years
and now it's her turn :D hey don't tell anyone I said that... :D

Well when I got up this morning everything was covered with ice, so I decided to take the day off work... :D But I'm going to spend the day reading a novel. My shop is a mess and I don't want to wade in it today. Have fun guys. ;)

Hey lets see it!

Blue sky's with a 20 to 30 mile an hour breeze here. No snow or ice. No boss, I think she just left. Hoping to find some energy today and get something forged today. All I need to do is get up off my ass and find out.......

It's Monday.

It's freezing rain and ice.

It's a New Year.

It's a new year of vacation on the books.

It's time to call in a vacation day and go work on knives.

Man oh man is this so true! I'm going into my 28th year of humping freight in a grocery store on third shift. :grumpy: My feet, back, legs and arms take a beating with that physical labor. 2 and 1/2 years for that guaranteed 30 year pension, then I think I'll feel better. My hope is to retire and go fulltime doing what I love, MAKING KNIVES! Maybe one day, everyone has to have a goal in life.

It's Monday, not a bad day, but not great either. Didn't sleep much, so I trudge off to work wishing I stayed in bed.
The subway was crowded more so than usual due to a union flirtations with a possible city subway and private bus strike. I finally get to work and as usual the computer takes 12 minutes to wake up.
So, I'm drawing the same building for the 6th straight month. :grumpy: The only thing making the day any different is when the network goes down as it usually does whenever the IT director decides not to come to work. Such is the time when I think about heaving the whole system out the window. :) !
Finally the day ends, I go home, here I am.
woopie..... :(
