After 35 years of wonderful memories like Cosell, Gifford and Meredith trading barbs back and forth, to not such wonderful memories such as Dennis Miller, Monday Night Football is leaving ABC at the end of this upcoming season. I've got mixed emotions about this change having grown up during the golden age of MNF (I'm 42) and having watched many incredible games. ESPN hasn't identified an announce team and probably won't any time soon. So what do you guys think about the move?

BTW, here's a link to the story on ESPN.com.

bad move. MNF is an institution and generates quite a bit of buzz in town when Madden and crew roll into town. Ratings will go down long term because there are a lot of people who do not have cable/satellite. in time it will lose its luster as the premier pro football game of the week

i have not had cable tv since medical school and do not plan on getting it.

even leaving NC almost a decade ago and even losing broadcast ACC basketball did not spur me to get it.

i guess i will not be watching any more games at home from now on

it's all about money anyway...who cares about us fans

My Steelers are playing San Diego Chargers in S.D. in October, cant wait !!
Being on the West Coast it's one of the few times every other year I get to see my boys in action !! :D :D
Woooot!!! Go Steelers !!!!! :) :) :D :D

Yay, that means it'll no longer preempt Jeopardy! on Monday nights! Now I can totally ignore the existence of pro "sports."

I think all sports need to be on ESPN, or whatever sports channels are out there. Ice skating, racing, whatever- move it to cable channel 99 and up.
Can you tell I am not a big sports watcher?? :)

Well, I'm not the avid pro sports fan I used to be (I'm more of a retired fan  ), but I do have fond memories of MNF. I don't like the move :grumpy: I wonder how long it will be until the NFL starts to lose money and it goes back to a non-cable company?
And, I agree that Dennis Miller was a definite low point for MNF :footinmou :D
