...and I didn't want to part with it. Allow me to explain.
I was on duty Monday and close to a computer for once. I could sense a DOTD coming. Lacking a valid debit card, I even went to the bank at 0855, waited until 0900 to get a gift card, and wrote up a draft. I was primed. I was ready. I had a temporary set of teeth.
A coworker (Madman076 on this forum, prolific poster that he is) had commissioned me to get him "a big khuk." He could not be near a computer and had the same feeling that I'd had. I promised that I would do my best. With everything set to go, I received a phone call that some customers would be arriving at 1000 to pick up 20 weapons and some accessories. I wasn't worried. I figured the special would be up before then.
My customers showed up early. I got them out in under five minutes, a new record as far as I know. I returned to the computer. The feeding frenzy was already in progress. I got away with the Jangee and both hands intact.
Last night the Jangee arrived. I polished off the tooth marks and took a look at it, and what a beaut it was - even non-HIKV infectees at work today remarked that it looked very nice and handled even better. Every line straight, every curve fluid...not even any real hammer marks. It was also fairly sharp. The only defects that I could find were some minor speckling on the karda and an easily repairable crack in the handle. The balance was incredible. Yes, it was 20" and 2 lbs., but it certainly didn't feel like it. What a khuk!
Then, I remembered, I'd gotten it for someone else. I considered foul play but eventually decided against it. He is my boss, after all. More importantly it's his first khuk. If his second is this nice, I can always bump him off later.
It received a receipt inspection earlier today and passed. I expect that Madman076 will be putting her through her sea trials tonight and over the weekend. Hopefully I'll be able to convince him to post a field report. It will be interesting to see how that handle setup deals with hard use.
Now I have to add the Jangee to the list and hope that the one I eventually get will be this good. I suppose that if worst comes to worst, I can beat up Madman076 and take his.
I never thought I'd be singing the praise of someone else's khuk, but there it is. That Jangee is something else.
