OK, so I am looking at this from the fringe of our son's extended family on his in-law side:

Two years ago, his in-laws decided that Tyheir big family Christmas celebration would not involve a gift exchange between the adults . . .fair enough except . . .One of the uncles had finally done rather well in residential real estate, flipping houses, I think. He bought neat things for all the kid Cousens (he is childless). But he also gave really nice things to each adult. The ladies all got something, but I don't remember what . . .and all the men got nice switch blade knives from one of the middle to nicer knife makers, but I don't remember who . . .except for our son. He gave him a really nice, expensive upscale bait casting real. . . maybe because our son is now a Baptist pastor, who knows. As a former Marine though, he does admire and appreciate fine, fancy or just cool knives . . .but he doesn't fish.

The story is better than that, and longer, but I'll cut to the chase. This fall, I gave our son a Chris Reeve large Sebenza 31 for his 45th birthday. With plain handles and Magnicut blade, it just is-what-it-is and he loves it. He never really did the EDC thing with any knife before, but now he does.

So, it is Christmas at the in laws again. All he had to do was pull out the CRK, flip it open and cut a ribbon or open a box, then casually put it down on the counter. Both brothers-in-law (twins actually) were knocked over and had to handle it and pass it around . . .somehow it was more impressive than the Randall one of them has.

As a father on the outside fringe of that family's dynamic, I consider the cost of that gift to be money well spent.

Well Parker. . .its the in-laws who are the 'Knits"! They are me-too influenceable. look for a few more CRK customers among g them in this next year. One of them saw the Randall #16-1 "Special Fighter" son carried in Iraq and ordered a hunting appropriate model for himself. . .optioned "to the hilt" so to speak.

Both of the twins have AR platform firearms that required multiple BATFE tax stamps . . .just for the cool factor. Neither one is a real prepper or range regular.

I think that if I had bought one of the "Small Sasquatch" special modals from a Randall dealer, one or both of them would want to get the LARGE Sasquatch, just because it was there.

You are lucky. Almost no one in my circle is aware of anything more expensive than a Buck. Not that I dislike Buck knives. I have a few.
