Here is a pic of a top that Dink, my father-in-law spun on the lathe this week. I used to throw the hell out of these as a kid, but neither of us had success that day, and half an hour later it was trash.

The next few immages are of Dylan and I making sparks. Dylan is profiling, and I'm doing bevels.

Those are some nice grinders. The one Dylan is using is like the ones I am using sometimes to play around with and experimentm with lately. I like the one you're doing edges on a lot!

Dylan....bro you worry me sometimes.....

Both kmg's. Difference is in the attachment being used.

Both are really nice. I don't see myself making that investment any time soon...but it's nice having friends who will let me experiment with ideas and make little things.

I'm going to be really sad here and bring up the subject of PPE. Would it be more comfortable working in a full face 'turbo-visor' rather than with a cartridge mask/specs? Or even better does anybody make an effective extractor that can handle sparks.

Just wondering ('cause I hate working in masks in my line of work).

Man, thats a mouthfull. I've been full time since May 1, 2009. Worked at it part time before that. I've got really crappy sinuses, lungs, and allergies. Every minute I'm in that shop that damn mask is on my face. I've found that one to be pretty comfortable comparitively, but when its hot, its miserable. In the cold, it actually helps me stay warm. I haven't invested in/had a chance to try good forced air full face device. This year I added a second area to the shop that is for non-dust-creating tasks like glueups and marking. Its a day or so in the process that the mask isn't necessary. Ill be able to heat it too. Sweet.
