Guys,

Time to clean out some of the collection, mostly unique duplicates but several rare ones I can't justify keeping. The sale is 19 HI items and 2 from NKH. All but one of the HI's (#13) are old school knives that are either no longer made in this fashion or with these materials, or not made at all, including several Bura knives.

Easiest way to handle the nearly 100 pics was to provide links to the online folders. Here are links to each item with a brief description if warranted; suggest you select "view slideshow" on each folder to get the best image:

SOLD 1) 9" 5.5 oz. Tez Dar[/B] - only one I've ever seen with a Horn Tine for a handle:

$65 + $10 Ship & Insure

SOLD 2) 10" 8 oz. Kumar Karda - there have been a lot of these, but not a lot by Sher. I've owned 20 and held on to it the longest just because of the amazing antler on it (which matches #8 nicely):

$70 + $10 Ship & Insure

WITHDRAWN 3) 15" 20 oz. NKH BAS from 2003. This is a particularly nice one; full brass buttcap in the old HI Shop 1 style. I have seen newer NKH production of this model but not as well made:

4) 13" 13 oz. HI Balance by Sher; full polish, not satin villager, and a perfect length to weight ratio of 13/13. Cow hoof cho. Thought I had more pics of this one:

Almost forgot it is also visible in the batch at:

5) NKH Ang Khola, brass handle. 16" OAL and 29 oz. Very clean and handles nicely. Generous length brass handle, standard bolster, and beautifully fullered unused blade. Nice no lace frog on a black buffalo hide scabbard. 16" is the perfect portable khukuri which is why I paired it with the more practical sheath. (Check out the note on the pics as this comes with an optional new "Kami fundraiser" sheath if you want it at $5 off new price):

$125 + $15 Ship & Insure (+ $15 for extra new leather sheath as shown.)

SOLD 6) 18.5" 49 oz. HI Shop 2 AK. This is a beautiful old _working_ knife, made in the classic style, once owned by Jimmy Lam. I've sharpened it but never chopped with it. 3/4" thick spine and great blade forward feel. Black buffalo hide scabbard w/ HI superfrog:

$135 + $15 Ship & Insure

7) 18" 23 oz. Pratap Malla. I have several Malla's (including the first {of 1 of 2} 25" Malla made), and have never seen another of these. If you have a Hanuman and Garud AK then this will round out the set nicely. Very well done red chandan handle feels great in the hand. A lot of power in this one (you HI guys know what I mean):

$165 + $15 Ship & Insure

BOTH SOLD 8 and 9) A pair of classic M-43's by Kumar[/B] in hard to find handle materials, Hill Walnut and Montana Elk Antler. Both 17" with the antler 27 oz. and the Hill Walnut 26 oz. Sorry I don't have more pics of the antler, but there's enough there to give you a good idea. Beautiful fast-handling knives; for a while Sweet and I were the only guys with Antler M-43's, but I doubt more than 4 or 5 were made:

$165 each + $15 Ship & Insure

SOLD 10) 18" 31 oz. Bura Ganga Ram, more properly a BGRS or Baby Ganga Ram Special, nearly identical Blade to the HI Bonecutter. The BGRS is widely regarded as the best all around chopper by many forumites. Beautiful full polish and the great extra long handle that Bura always provided is very comfortable:

$175 + $15 Ship & Insure

SOLD 11) A very rare HI {SHOP 1} 18th Century model from 1999, once owned by Yvsa, who expertly hand filed the buttcap edge down and recessed it slightly. 19" and a nearly perfect 2 lbs. Cross-hatched pattern blade and a traditional (non-habaki) bolster. Nicely balanced and very sharp. This is the only one I've ever seen:

$185 + $15 Ship & Insure

12) A 15" 20 ounce Silver Mounted AK, from 2004. In later years several similar knives were sold with _silver metal_ which is basically the same stuff as found on the BGRS above, but they are not silver mounted. This is real silver on the bolster and buttcap and will tarnish and costs accordingly. This one has a beautifully hand-carved satisal (nepali oak) handle:

13) 20" 48 oz. Samsher by Murali. I love Samshers but can't justify more of them. This is a nearly perfect specimen with traditional bolster and red chandan handle, and is a heavy classic leaf-bladed chopper:

$245 + $15 Ship & Insure

SOLD 14) 21" 27 oz. New Kobra by Bura; one of only two made, from the same batch several years ago. Totally unique design never repeated. I'm keeping only a core set of classic kukris so this has to go:

$245 + $15 Ship & Insure

http://photobucket.com/New_Kobra

SOLD 15) 29.5" 34 oz. Nepali Tarwar by Kumar. Beautiful Hill Walnut handle and great balance to this blade with a nearly perfect length to weight ratio for a big knife. Full polished blade, not a Villager, and perfectly done by Kumar on one of his better days. Hate to part with this but still have an original Bura so it will have to suffice:

$275 + $20 Ship & Insure

http://photobucket.com/Hill_Walnut_Tarwar

16) 22.5" 30 oz. Bag Bhairab by Sher, with Hill Walnut handle. This thing kicks ass; the ultimate zombie decapitator. I've owned 4 of these, and this is only being let go under protest (with just one slightly heavier in reserve). Traditional bolster, and chiruwa handle helps balance the longer blade, and the scarce hill walnut handle only adds to the package. Perfectly made and balanced, and an HI you'll never see again:

$295 + $20 Ship & Insure

17) 27.5" perfect 2 lb. Manjushri Sword by Sher, in carved horn, the second horn made and one of the last. The first was tested on cinder block and other materials to really see how tough these knives were, but this one has been a safe queen; balance has to be felt to be appreciated:

$295 + $20 Ship & Insure

http://photobucket.com/Manjushri

18) 23" 33 oz. Uddha Sword by Bura. I'm down to two but the other is the first scrimmed elk antler handle so I have to give this up. Gorgeous flame chandan handle model by Master Kami Bura, so I don't feel badly at all about the pricing on this. This is a great example of a classic middle eastern sword design, and I don't think HI has made any for quite a while:

$295 + $20 Ship & Insure

http://photobucket.com/Uddha

19) 26.5" 73 oz. Father (Monster) CAK by Sher. In 2004 Uncle Bill offered a half-dozen of these for sale one afternoon, and I never saw any again. Truly magnificent Chiruwa AK; great blade for the guy who wants the largest semi-manageable CAK out there. This is really a ceremonial head-lopper but is a great example of HI work to use occasionally and admire; probably not an EDC blade ;):

$325 + $20 Ship & Insure

http://photobucket.com/Father_CAK

20) 27" 60 oz. Royal Banspati by Royal Kami Bura, circa 1999. Double-dragon on right side, tiger, yak, elephant, owl, pheasant + more left, fully engraved brass handle, full tang presentation khukuri; black leather scabbard w/ heavy brass chape and HI superfrog. There are days and days of work in each one of these. Do a search on the HI forum for "Royal Banspati" and read what Uncle Bill and the old forumites had to say about this knife:

21) 39" 49 oz. Two-handed Everest Katana by Bura, with wonderful carved buffalo horn handle. Brass fittings, habaki bolster, and red buffalo hide scabbard. Full chiruwa tang and engraved tsuba:

$345 + $20 Ship & Insure

1) Posted prices include USPS Priority Mail shipping insured with tracking to anywhere in the CONUS. I'll ship any of the regular knives to OCONUS customers I've dealt with before (shipping method & insurance at their expense & option) otherwise no International sales please, and unfortunately no sword sales overseas (it took me a year and a dozen appeals to the PO to get a refund for a customer in Canada whose sword was impossibly bent in half by the USPS.)

2) PayPal is OK and I'll pay the fees, but you must have a confirmed address. PP addy is n-l-morris@sbcglobal.net.

3) Shipping discounts available on multiples.

4) The first "I'll take it" here gets the knife. PM's and email are less sure.

Not really interested in trades right now. Please let me know of any questions, and thanks for looking!

Ok, thankfully this worked out: Shooter, I stupidly :culpability: didn't check here first but got your PM at 12:12 and confirmed 6 and 10 for you. Then got OldeWolf's email saying he wanted #6 as well! and of course he posted first here. I'm amending the sale thread to show the first "I'll take it" here gets it.

In any case: OldeWolf, the Hill Walnut M43 is yours; I have a commitment above on the antler. Shooter, I sent you a PM on the package deal for #6 and #10.

My PP is listed above, so please confirm and provide your mailing info.

Thanks!

Norm

Note that the #8 Elk Antler M-43 and the #5 NKH Brass Ang Khola are now available.

Eric, PM sent back to you on #1 and #14, and I can work with you on the other. Any guy in the "Falcatta Club" (of which I never was a member) deserves some accomodation... :D

I just got #6 and #10 in the mail today.....WOW. Amazing knives! I think I will have to take a trip down to the Redwood forests to give them a proper go!

Outstanding Shooter, thanks for the kind words, and very glad you like them! I was tempted to jump over the counter at the PO and get the BGRS back at the last minute, but have to let them go sometime... :D
