Well?

Whaddya waiting for?

Oh yeah...the rules...

RULES:

1. Has to be at least 25" long

OR

at least 3+ lbs. (48 oz.)

2. Has to be either an HI product, or khukuri-ish in design.

I'm interested to see what turns up. A few of you I already know about, but the stories are worth being heard again - both by me and by some of the new folk 'round here.

Dan

Aww. I was gonna take my 25" Sirupati (only 41 oz) and go attack some logs, plywood, crocodiles, tree lobsters, and patagonian toothfish, but now I'll just use it to clean my fingernails :D

edited to add pic :)

Monster Khuk and tractor pull. We need a couple of blades named Bigfoot and Grave Digger.

Sweet!

Give us the specs too!

Now how 'bout the rest of you turkeys posting your pics?

Josh?

Pendentive-- I don't have a digital camera, or I would be happy to post a pic of the beast.:( Unfortunately, all my digital camera money goes to khukuris:) . My 25" AK pretty much looks like the one that was up for sale on the forums a few weeks ago, except I put a heavy patina on the blade and took the chape off the scabbard.

The HI Falcata:

Weight: 3.2lbs
Overall Length: 27inches
Blade: 20 inches, 2 1/8 inches wide at belly,5/8inch thick at bolster, distal taper.

The story: Had been looking for a well made Kopis, and heard that HI made a version called the HI falcata, limited run. Asked about this elusive model at the Cantina.
Bill Marsh, now proprietor of Shah Jahans, was kind enuf to sell this Sanu Made blade to me.

20 1/2" Salyan, 13" blade 7" handle, 3/4" spine. Please forgive me my Japanese friends, but it told me it's name was "Fat Man". I know this is offensive, but haven't been able to get it to accept another so far.

26 1/2" Kora. 19 3/4 inch blade, just short of 7" handle, and just inde 1/2" spine.

30" sirupati. nuff said

You know, I found a knife that I had forgotten I had stored in the attic. It fits in this category. I got it years ago in a trade. The crossguard looks like someone used a punch to spell out "Iran 1901." I would post a pic if I knew how.

This is my "Nayar Temple Sword," a distant relative of the khukuri. It's from Kerala on the SW coast of India, 18thc(?). I brought it to the Catoosa Convention in 2001.

Length ~33", damascus blade (unpolished).

For Christmas my Mom asked what I wanted. I answered a 25" siru and nothing else. I emailed Uncle and he sent out a deadly beautiful horn handled one by Sher. Well three days later I get a second triangular box with a friendlier wood handled 25" siru, also by Sher. I emailed Uncle and told him I would have to return the second one. Two days later I get some cash for Christmas from my Mom's Brother (don't want to confuse Uncles, here). It was really unexpected as my family isn't that close. So I sat up one night trying to figure out what to do with the money. And that's when my eyes fell upon the other siru. I wasn't sure what I was going to do with TWO of these monsters but who was I to argue with what seemed to be Fate? I paid Unlce in full for the second siru. The wood handled one is my heavy chopper. And The Black Eel sits next to my side of the bed. I don't know what kind of mood Sher was in when he made this one, but it is not a blade to be taken lightly. The wood is an honest worker. But the horn harbors the grim heart of a fighter. I think it's proof positive that the blade does indeed pick you.

Don't have a digital camera, so I can't post pics. Got a 30" three pound siru by Sher. Was so impressed, I registered on the forum. When I opened the box and unpacked it, the karda fell out. I thought, "WOW, Uncle Bill sent me a steak knife as a bonus."
(You didn't say it had to be a good story)

I'm a khuk monster. . . . 72", 2822oz. polish up well. Deep belly. not that fast, but good for heavy work.

. . . . was thinking about hinting at a handle, but talking about bone, wood or size might seem innapropriate.

Ok, so far - 4 pics and a lot of BS...:D

sweet - my monster is in the air...

Pics and comparative test forthcoming... ;)
