I remember in the late 90s early part of the 2000s there was a group of knife makers who excelled at making pattern Damascus, powdered and EDM Damascus, they were called the Montana mafia or the Michigan mafia, something that started with an M. Anyone recall the name of the group of skilled Smith's making the coolest Damascus blades, one I recall was Wiley Coyote, another was the US flag.

Thanks in advance for any info and or links you folks might provide.

Thanks Sturubu, that what I was looking for, confirmation that I was correct in the group's name and a list of some of the members.

Thanks again, this is why this the greatest knife site on the web.

BTW, great article thanks.

Josh Smith is one of them now, as his testicles finally descended and he has some facial hair, lol.

Shane Taylor is the heat, he has been winning awards this year like nobody's business.

Also Rick Eaton, Erik Fritz and honorary member Bill Burke.

They are all close friends of each other, and gee, shucks, mine too.

Best Regards,

STeven Garsson

Not a problem, I stumbled across the article a while back looing for MT makers, and it was definitely a good read...makes me wish I had the space, gear, , patience, time, experience, and especially the talent to even think about trying to understand how it's done!
