Well 40 years ago today, man landed on the moon. Hard to believe it's been that long!

I dug out this old keyring, that our local bank gave out in 1969 after the landing, which my Dad put up and never used.

In 1977 when he died, I inherited it along with his pocketknives and have kept it put away until today.

My family and I were camping that week 40 years ago, but that night we found a motel with a television so we could watch the landing.

They are still arguing about the inscription on the back of the key chain. They say there was an"a" between the for man in his speech.

There was supposed to be...but he goofed. So, the inscription is actually correct.

That is so cool!

The day the world held it's breath. One of History's absolute greats.

A cool story that goes along with this...

I spent all-day yesterday listening to three NASA insiders presenting a couple of papers about the work they are doing to help get us back to the moon, and then on to Mars. Some VERY cool things happening at the space agency.

I remember the night like it was almost yesterday. We were at the cabin, it was a warm clear evening and the moon was perfect and full. We heard the announcement that they had landed, and it seemed to take forever for Neil to make the step onto the moon.

I would look at the fuzzy picture on the Black and White TV and then glance out the window at the moon in amazment that a man is actually standing on it.

It was a huge dissapointment and a huge let down for humanity that we lost the lunar space program and have not yet returned.
