Moonwalk

Aw, I was hoping this was Esav doing his best Michael Jackson. Disappointing.

(Cool video. I love how much motion is seen in the "rising" of the moon.)

Maybe my best dancing bear, not up to Michael Jackson!

I love to watch moon rising through trees, rising above them, seeing each sea and crater heave into view.

venus & a very new moon

silver sliver & scintillant star
sparkling sisters rising at sunset
cycles meeting for millions of years
watching i share in the dance from afar

I have a little place out in the country(old one room schoolhouse)that I am fixing up. I was out there tonight hanging sheetrock. My wife stopped by on her way back into town. We visited for a bit, turned out the lights, walked outside to behold a beautiful sight. Sun had set completely and the moon was out. Cloud cover had just dissipated leaving a very large ring around the moon with a lot of diffused light reflecting off of it. Wind had died down completely. Very peaceful.

It is amazing what a touch of haze high up can do, even to the sunlight. At night, it's magic.

Coincidentally, Astronomy Picture of the Day has this today: Alaskan Moondogs

They do a nice job most days showing stars and galaxies and sometimes space hardware. But the pictures of Earth and our immediate surroundings are my favorites.

I've been using the same picture of a starfield for months, so I recently changed it to Yosemite Winter Sky from December 25.
