I found this jack knife in one of my father's boxes of stuff. It is stamped MOORE HANDLEY HDWE on both tangs. I don't know much about it but seems like a decent knife. I'm not sure if the scales are bone or plastic but they do show a little shrinkage.

It's Moore - Handley, with an "N". They were a Birmingham, Ala wholesale hardware jobbing firm. They sold their last folding knives in 1965.

Another Birmingham firm was Wimberly - Thomas.

Both sold pocketknives with their name on them, but any from Wimberly - Thomas are extremely rare. I've only seen two.

Several years ago, at a knife show in Dalton, GA, I purchased three mint, etched, celluloid handled Moore -Handley knives for three hundred dollars.

I brought them home, showed them to a local collector/dealer the next day and sold them for four-fifty.

Moore - Handley reorganized many years ago and I think they are still in business as HomeCrafters, Inc, although I don't know how they've fared since the coming of Home Depot and Lowes.

They were located on Highway 31 South between Birmingham and Pelham.

Thanks for the correction and history, Charlie. I edited the post to read Handley (can't edit the title though).
