Hey guys. I just got my first Moore Maker. It's a single blade peanut. I have a question: How is their F&F from the factory? The blade grind is pretty uneven from one side to the other, and there is a couple very small discoloration spots on the blade. The snap is good, I guess I just expected a little more after reading about them for a while now. I did get it from Ebay, so that may have something to do with the F&F. Maybe it really wasn't NIB. Any thoughts?

That depends on who built it: either Bear or Queen. If memory serves me, I don't think Queen makes any of those peanuts. I have a couple of Moore Makers made by Queen that are comparable to their Schatt & Morgan quality F&F that you would like to see. I think the models made by bear have a b at the end of their serial number on their tang such as 5202b. The blade grinds on the few I have bought have been pretty consistent.

The single blade peanut is a low end Bear model. They are definitely "user" knives as the quality is "Bear" quality and the 1095 generally has patina started on it by the time I get them in stock. If you want to experience the Moore Maker people have great things to say about, pick up one of the older (colored) bone models made by Queen. But, if you get one for $20-50, it is probably a Bear or Camillus (somewhere between the two in quality) model.

Mooremaker fit and finish is not great. I have a yellow bone sodbuster that I'm quite fond of, but the backspring is not flush in the closed position.

Even though I don't own a MM I agree with what Durbin said. While at my new drug(knife) dealer this past Sat. getting a new Case I asked to look at a MM. They have a huge selection and he handed me a smooth yellow bone mimi-trapper. The FF looked just like some of my Queen made traditionals. If I didn't want a new Case so bad I would have had to have a MM that day!

I'm looking at a few Moore Maker's right now. Looks like if you want a 1095 Mountain Man, (I assume made by Queen) they have it in 4 bone styles.

I have posted this picture before, but it shows a good Moore Maker 5301 that was made by Queen. It has outstanding fit and finish.

I have some Stockmans and Trappers in the older Yellow delrin working series made by Camillus.
They have a better F&F to an similar Case.
