I vote for the Mooremaker 3 7/8 inch punchblade stockman in either Delrin or Buffalo Horn. These are made for MM on contract by Camillus. The bone and Stag MM's are made by Queen. I don't have anything against the Queens, in fact I have never held one. However I have the Delrin and Horn models, and they are my favorite carries. I also have a Case large stockman in CV. Nice but not enough snap in the springs. Also too rounded and overpolished.
Just want to confirm that the following knives would therefore be made by Queen. http://www.bigbendsaddlery.com/mmknives.html Was thinking of ordering that BIG 4 1/2" stockman. Anyone have this one? Anyone do business with Big Bend Saddlery before?

As for the Case, I have to agree. I just got the 6.5 Bonestag CV stockman. Nice knife and great steel, but not nearly as much snap as the Queen Cattle King.

Sure are, all MM knives with yellow smooth or jigged bone scales are made by Queen. Their Buffalo Horn and Yellow Delrin are by Camillus.

Dang you for showing that one, now I want one to! yuk yuk

I haven't bought from Big Ben, I think Bill Horn at http://www.cumberlandknifeworks.com has them also and he is 100% reliable.

Thanks for the confirmation.

I somehow missed the 4 1/2" one at Cumberland. Based on the reviews of Bill Horn here, I'll put in an order there when I get ready to place it.

That's a big old stockman.

I have the big stockman and it is a great knife. I like the rounded bolsters on it compared to the square bolsters on the other bone handled stockmans made by Mooremaker. The only problem with the big stockman is that it is a big, heavy knife, a little tough to carry in the pocket, a sheath works better.

I've also done business with the Big Bend Saddlery in the past with no problems at all.

I actually emailed Bill Horn and asked about that very issue. Hmm, maybe the 4 1/4" would work better. Be about the same size as the Case large or the Queen Cattle King stockman.

The big stockman is a bit bulky but as I say, the bolsters are square on those other models--not as comfortable to use as the big stockman and the tangs stick up when the knife is closed, kind of rough on the pockets. The Mooremakers in delrin and buffalo horn that are 3 and 7/8" are a perfect pocket carry but may be smaller than what you are looking for.

Depends on what you want, some people carry a knife as big as the Mooremaker 5304 or bigger in their pocket and think nothing of it.
