Moore Maker Knives

At least some of the yellow-handled Moore Makers are now being made by Bear & Son. I've heard that Queen makes some of the others in natural handle material (bone, etc.). I have a couple each of the yellow-handled large sodbuster and large double-lockback trapper. These are made by Bear & Son. Personally, the fit & finish on them is a disappointment compared to the original Camillus versions. I would think the Queen-made knives should be better in terms of F&F. Just my two cents...

there is a higher end line built by Queen, and a lower end/working class line made by bear and sons, which are marked by with the letter b after the number as in 5202b. I have two made by Queen, none of the bears, but my Queen built MM's, are great.

The first two are just not very impressive specimen; but I was somewhat pleased with the third one. They are really having a problem finding a supplier for the economy line that can compare to Camillus.

Queen makes the sodbuster; it is a litter pricier than comparable patterns in other brands.

I know that Queen makes the bone handled sodbusters, do they make the plastic handled ones too?

I was wondering about this too. I was under the impression that Bear & Son were making the plastic-handled knives (the so-called 'economy line'). I would expect better fit & finish from Queen, if they're making them. I have two of the large yellow-handled (synthetic) soddies, both purchased post-Camillus, and they don't look like Queen quality to me.

Edited to add:
Not to mention, Queen doesn't even make a large soddie of their own. I've been wishing for just such a knife, just like Queen's Country Cousin in D2, but in the large size. It would seem very odd to me if they were making the large sodbuster under contract for someone else, but not one of their own. I'm inclined to believe the Moore Maker soddies are coming from somebody else...

Queen makes the two standard sodbusters. Bear makes the two lockback versions. Sodbusters are economy based patterns and generally not a good example of any makers finest work. Now some are very nice, but generally the factory tries to make them at the lowest price point possible.

I have a yellow bone large stockman from a few years ago. It's quite nice. A real nail breaker.

my father owns a one made by queen after he retired his old case stockman he was dissapointed at first but he skinned some pigs a whole beef he said he was pretty impressed with after that not even related to anything though

SMKW right now has a small lockback sodbuster made by Bear for $24.99 and a large lockback sodbuster made by Bear for $27.99. Are these the same knives that Mooremaker wants $50.00 and $63.00 for, or does Mooremaker have higher specs when Bear produces sodbusters for them? Yes, I know, the large MM. sodbuster comes with one of their sheaths, but we are still talking about quite a price difference for what may be the same knife.
