Looking at Moore Maker knives on ebay. Came across a seller, with a note regarding Moore Marketing and its association with Moore Maker and how they sell seconds. I wonder how many seconds end up being sold as NIB Moore Makers at full price.

Made me leery of second hand purchases.

Well if Moore Maker was going to do stuff like that, they wouldn't have someone selling their seconds on Ebay for them. I saw that seller when he first registered with Ebay and had (0) feedbacks, wasn't sure if he was legit, so I contacted Moore Maker and they verifed that he is their "seconds" seller.

So far his feedbacks seem to show he is being accurate with his discriptions.

I'm not worried about him. I worried about Joe Blow buying the seconds and reselling them.

OK, sorry I misunderstood you.

You make a valid point, before they are let "out of the barn", Moore Maker should establish some sort of identifier like a small file mark on the tang or such, so folks will always know it's a second.

I recall when you could buy Schrade seconds back in the 60's and 70's. They had a grind mark right across the name on the tang. There was no disguising it.

I've seen some Case seconds the same way. Only identifier I ever saw to prove it was a Case was a single X that survived.
