I was browsing their website and they have a lot of nice looking slipjoints. They say they offer these knives in 7 colors but most of 'em seem to be yellow with a few special serial numbered ones in green or brown. Anyway, there's a pic of a beautiful blue stockman there - I'd buy one in a second, but it's only available in yellow.
Great! I can get well-made YELLOW stockmans from a lot of manufacturers. I can probably get a nice blue one from Case, but besides the QC issues it would have the dreaded "surgical steel" blades. (However, my yellow handled Case CV has real nice fit and finish).
So, I wrote to Mooremaker and asked about the blue scales and they got back to me pretty quick - always a good sign. Unfortunately the blue slipjoints were a limited edition and sold out immediately, no more available. Apparently a lot of people wanted knives like this.
I'm all for limited editions and so forth, but this is like having a license to print money and deciding not to use it. I want a Mooremaker but don't want another yellow-handled slipjoint. Where else can I get a well-made blue bone stockman with carbon steel blades?
