I heard somewhere the mop was in! Now it's confirmed:)
That knife is really nice. RJ Martin rocks the house.

More details needed. Who's damascus, and what's it made of?

R.J. just kicked it up another notch, it seems.

Oh yeah, almost forgot. Stabber, you SUCK! :p;):D:)

knice knife RJ, however I must say I would much prefer the MOP be secured by some other means instead of the large black torx screws.

Thanks Gang! I believe it's Devin Thomas's damascus:thumbup:

It was nice to meet up with you Jonathan.

AHA! RJ was in my studio as we shot a few others. He said there was a sweeeet one in pearl, now gone. Couldn't have gone to a better guy!

According to RJ, this is a full framelock version of his Q-36. Flipper and profile. When he was asked to make one simply out of ti slabs, compared to his traditional Q-36 with thick liners, he said: "That would be overkill, though...!"

He he he! Exactly.

I won the draw yesterday....
RJ finally made the transition to a lottery draw. Good for HIM! He has a sidesplitting story about this, too. I'll let him tell it. :p

Rich, it''s ALWAYS a pleasure chatting with you. Always too little time for me, as I am busy doing my shtick. Thanks for the shout out. :)

Hi Stabber: It was with great delight that I drew your number! The lotteries definitely worked well as far as giving the Friday and Saturday attendees a shot at buying a knife. It was a new experience for me, and now that I have seen how lotteries work and what can happen, I will make some small adjustments for the ECCKS.

Seceredthumbs-As far as securing the pearl with screws, I have had a few comments about that, and I underatand-It's a matter of personal taste.
Because the knife is truly overbuilt, there is a construction screw under the inlay that I might need to access in the future, so having the ability to remove the scale is a must. I actually expect people to carry and use this knife, so at some point the frames might need re-finishing.

Personally, I find the contrast between the black screw heads and the brilliant white of the pearl attractive. Also, it is a LARGE inlay and being that pearl is, well, pearl, I don't want it shattering if the knife is dropped or banged. But I will ponder this and see if an alternate solution is possible.

The Damascus in the NYCKS OVERKILLS was Rob Thomas SS Typhoon pattern, which I like because it is not too "loud" and seems to fit into the overall look of the knife very well.

Jason-It was a pleasure meeting you and your beautiful bride at the gathering. Hopefully we can have more opportunities to talk knives in the future.

Coop-I cannot wait to see your awesome montages.......!

Thanks,

RJ Martin
