I recently Got one of these..and am negotiation another in trade.... I'm realy digging it feels a more solid than a standard mora, and the handle is awesome (though ugly) it's not as trad in appearance as my usual fare and I think an aftermarket kydex sheath may be in order..

anybody use these?
any thoughts after a while of using them?
what's with the grind change?
do you miss a pointier blade?
how do they handle a baton?
any help would be great, Thanks.

Certainly not traditional! The ninja turtle handle is not all that attractive of course, but it's all about the function, right? I've found the handle to be a little too thin for my hands, such that it will sort of eat into the web of your thumb after a longer carving spell. But that's more 'extreme', and just with harder woods of course. I have also batoned mine numerous times (on sensibly sized wood, not 6" thick stuff) without any problems. The tang is pretty long on the M2K, as that famous x-ray shows.

I rather like the grind aesthetically and have found it to be simply the best slicer I've ever used. I use it in the kitchen all the time. That sandvik steel is also friggin out of this world as far as stainless goes.

I liked the design enough to get Brendan (Gausvik) to make me one with a beefier micarta handle, came out great. If you need aftermarket plastic, Kiah made me a badass personalized sheath for my regular M2K...

And the Gausvik...

Probably the only two limitations on the blade are that it won't strike a firesteel too well, and it is a pretty wide blade. But it's not meant to be a pure 'carving' tool anyway, more general purpose.

NIce pics there Will i was hoping you;d chime in..... although th egtind tapersit does not seem to change by that I mean that there is no sec bevel along the whole blade correct?

I like mine just fine, although I've only used it in the kitchen so far. I don't like the belt loop on the sheath; I would like to modify or replace the sheath.

Be sure to check out the 2010 as well

I wrapped my plastic sheath in leather so now have a leather fold-back belt loop.

Dig that sheath Rayban! Nice work.

And I'd also like to check out the 2010, I may pick one up down the road in fact. Handle looks a bit more 'roomy' than the 2000.

Correct! Same grind angle throughout, just a different 'shoulder'.

Didn't I read that the 2010 is the same blade but just set further into the handle ?

I played with the 2010 it;s nice but the amalgous shape of the 2000's handle lends itself to more versatility I think

I've owned a Mora 2K for about four years. It's seen a decent amount of use and I've found it to be very dependable and relatively easy to sharpen.

Outdoor Magazine posted this review (PDF) of the M2K (and the Grohmann belt knife).

The only mora ive ever owned (and still do) is the M2K. I got it in trade here on BF and havent looked back. It has done everything i have asked of it and not complained once. It is what started my yet-to-be quenched scandi fascination. I LOVE THAT REHANDLED ONE SPOOKY! VERY NICE
