I have quite a few great knifes (Rittergrip, mini-Rittergrip, Becker BK10, BK11, Buck 500,...), but last week I purchased a KJ Ericsson #748 from Ragweedforge.com.

My plan is to use this primarily as a camp "kitchen" knife that stays in my popup camper trailer - that's why I bought the stainless blade.

Wow, what a nice knife, especially for $16 (+$5 for shipping).

The 5.75" stainless blade is VERY solid - much more so than I imagined for a thin, nearly 6" long blade. If the plan was to carry this on my belt while hiking or camping, I might look at the #711 (carbon) or #746 *stainless), with 4" blades, OR more likely the #2000, with the deeper 4.5" blade.

The handle is nicely sized & shaped with a rubbery/tacky grip. I also like that it has a very slight, but noticable and effective finger guard. Even the plastic sheath is decent for my needs and locks the knife in well. The only negative may be the belt loop attached to the sheath. Though time will tell, it doesn't look very robust. For my needs that is OK too.

Just about anything Ragweed sells is good quality. I have purchased several Mora,s from him & was never disappointed. The stainless is usualy Sandvik which is a decent stainless compared to other stainless steels. I am sure this knife will perform well for you. :)

Yes, Ragnar is an excellent seller. Mora knives are a good value and offer cutting performance that is higher than many knives costing much more. There are advantages and disadvantages to the scandi grind, however Mora knives avoid the worst of the downside (binding) by being very thin.

Yep... they are great knives for the money. They easily outcut many of my 400.00 custom knives hands down! I sold the customs..heh heh. :D

I like 'em too! I've had a Mora #1 for a couple of years and it has done a lot of work for me! That carbon steel is great at edge holding and is easy to sharpen. You have to be a little carefull sometimes with no guard and the sharp blade right there but an EXCELLENT BUY for $9 in my opinion! :)

I hear you on the guard! They make em now with a safety guard. If you are careful & you know what your doing, the guard is not needed. I sometimes get carried away, so I need that guard! It costs less than several stitches & an emergency room visit. :D

I could go on for a long time about how happy I am with Ragnar. Not only have I been very happy with the knives I purchased from him but the guy taught me (through a lengthy series of emails) how to properly grind through the lamination on my Moras and effectively strike a spark with them! That's the kind of thing you just don't forget. Great guy, great products. I truely enjoy giving my money to vendors like that.

I've got the 731 (just like the 748, but in carbon steel), but my 711 (same knife, but with a 4" blade) gets much more use. It's permanently tucked in my tech bag for major cutting tasks.

The photos don't do justice to just how ugly these knives are, but _damn_ do they ever work hard! :D
